Star Anise imparts a licorice-like flavor with a note of sweetness. Add one or two whole Star Anise to simmered meats or poultry for that classic Chinese flavor. Enhances mulled cider and citrus punches with a subtle licorice taste. Stews and cooked beans will have a rich, sweet mellowness with the addition of one or two stars.
Star Anise is the seedpod of a tree in the Magnolia family. Although the stars contain seeds, it is the pod that holds most of the flavor. Morton & Bassett Spices’ jars contain only carefully selected, whole pods, not the bits and pieces you may be used to.
